What is L.A.’s best-kept secret?
The pistachio cookies at Eagle Rock Italian Bakery.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A jockey.

Who is your celebrity crush?
Christiane Amanpour.

Your criteria for choosing a wine is as follows:

1. It has a fancy label with French words on it.

2. It tastes like funky grape juice.

3. It makes you feel all funny.

Want to try that again? Get a crash course at Colorado Wine Company, the Eagle Rock boutique where oenophiles of all levels are welcome.

Owners John and Jennifer Nugent have worked hard to curate an environment where every customer gets personal attention without intimidation. With an accessible stock of wines, bubblies, and hard-to-find beers from around the world, the atmosphere here is convivial.

A staffer may offer you a sample before you buy, or you can settle into the bar area to uncork a bottle in-store. And their tastings and open cellar nights will have you coming back for artisanal cheese samples and snacks.

All that aside, there’s another reason folks are drawn to the shop: Most inventory is priced at $25 or less.
