Most restaurants would like to claim you’ll have a historic meal and a landmark experience. Water Works Restaurant and Lounge delivers.
The Schuylkill flows to one side, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art rises on the other: It’s quite a site. Officials at the 1976 World Fair declared it a national historic landmark, and locals and tourists still can’t resist striking a pose there (we’re convinced it’s the No. 1 spot for bridal-party photo ops).
But we all know you can’t get by on just a pretty facade. So chef Darryl Harmon attracts diners with American classics crossed with a touch of Greek cuisine. Watch the sunset and sip a cocktail on the patio — it is Philadelphia’s most romantic restaurant, after all.
And a reservation for the history books.
