A Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Shares Her Advice

Words of Wisdom from

Kyle Richards

• “Not to take the romance out of it, but it might be helpful to think of dating as a hiring process. You’re considering whether you want this guy in your life long-term, and it’s a very important position to fill.”

• “Make it clear that you’re a prize worth fighting for. Don’t just present yourself up on a plate and tell him you’re available by room service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

• “A lot of people assume the show is scripted. You have no idea how many times I’ve thought, I should just start lying and say, ‘Yes, they made me say that!’ I would love to blame a script for what I said in certain episodes.”

“Authentic” and “reality TV star” aren’t words you usually hear in the same sentence. Kyle Richards of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wants to prove you wrong.

In case you haven’t tuned into the addictive series, here’s a quick rundown on Richards: She was born and raised in the 90210 and logged time in front of the camera (you might have seen her in Little House on the PrairieThe Watcher in the Woods, and ER). Oh, and her sister is Paris Hilton’s mom.

It could make for a toxic a la Lohan mix, but she manages to stay grounded in a sea of blondes (and boobs), eschewing the posse of nannies and personal chefs that surround the rest of her crew.

Wonder how she does it? Read her tips on dating, marriage, and beauty in her book Life Is Not a Reality Show. You want more? Fine. She’ll even sign the book. And while we’re at it, the first twenty purchasers will receive a gift bag with either a set of season one DVDs or a signed photo of Kyle, brought to you by Bravo.

Talk about the real deal.
